Everyone knows the greatest pints of Guinness comes straight out of its homeland in Ireland. But soon we will get a close second, when the beer giant opens its first US brewery in more than 64 years.

Get ready to tap some kegs and knock the froth off a few cold ones, because the Guinness Open Gate Brewery & Barrel House, in Halethorpe, Maryland is set to open on Friday, August 3.

The brand’s owner Diageo said in a statement last Thursday that the new brewery near Baltimore will include a visitor centre, a 270 seat restaurant and tap room and create around 200 jobs, reports CNBC.

The new brewery won’t be making Guinness’ most famed dark ales Guinness Draught Stout and Guinness Extra Stout, those will continue to be imported. Instead, it will be brewing more popular and younger ales, as well as some experimental craft beers. All the more reason to check out the selection, we say.

The beer is currently brewed in 49 countries around the world, but until now has had a super limited footprint in the US. In fact, the last US Guinness brewery operated from 1949 to 1954 in New York.

The new brewery opens Friday, August 3. So next time you’re in town, be sure to drop in for a beer!
