The Grounds Has Gone Full Willy Wonka For Its Next After-Dark Dessert Market
At this point, The Grounds of Alexandria in Sydney is synonymous with lavish themed pop-ups and desserts so sweet they’d make Kristen Bell blush. The next pop-up event is no different, transforming the cafe into a Willy Wonka-inspired playground complete with after-dark dessert market.
That sounds insane…
…ly good.
The Grounds Garden of Sweets swings open its gates on Friday, July 26. Inside, the laneways will be lit up with giant neon lollipops, jumbo sweets and, come nightfall, dessert markets serving up treats so good that it’s almost cruel to make anyone write about without tasting.

Think coloured waffle cones filled with ice cream and topped with all kinds of delicious treats. Think fresh doughnuts from The Grounds Bakery, a Blueberry Crêpe Station, Fizzy Drinks with sherbet bombs and a Lolly Cart overflowing with fudge, meringues, giant gobstoppers and sour lollies. There’ll even be a Hot Chocolate Fondue station to ward off the cold winter nights.
The Grounds Garden of Sweets is free to visit from 7am until late and will be open daily until September 22.

The regular dining options at the Grounds will be open as usual, so you can grab a table for dinner at The Potting Shed before hitting up the sweets – but we’re not god, or your father, or your boss, so we say it’s perfectly acceptable to go straight to dessert!
