Gelato Messina Is Celebrating One Year Of Their Glorious Cookie Pie With A New Birthday Cake Flavour
It’s been a year since Gelato Messina first released a limited edition cookie pie that sent Aussies wild, and it’s celebrating the milestone with a new flavour: chocolate-chip birthday cookie pie with vanilla custard and birthday cake rumble that you’ll be able to pre-order online.
It all started 12 months ago in lockdown. Gelato Messina announced they would be giving away free choc-chip cookie pies with all Deliveroo orders over $32. Naturally, Aussies went so beserk at the thought of warm chocolate chip cookie pies with gelato on top that the gelateria chain had to switch off its ordering system to catch up.
Over the past year, the dessert has had a few incarnations including red velvet and a Nutella version, but the latest flavour in celebration of their 1st birthday is a real banger.
The cookie-dough pie features chocolate chips as per usual, as well as a layer of vanilla custard with birthday cake crumbled on top, filled with a happy smattering of sprinkles. Lord, give us strength.
“Born almost 1 year ago amidst pure desperation, the cookie pie was a shining light for our business during an otherwise very.. VERY dark time. It seems the least we could do is celebrate its anniversary the best way we know how.. with 👏 more 👏 cookie 👏 pie,” says Messina on Instagram.
As always, you bake the cookie pie yourself, which is a great thing – you’ll not only eat it warm, but you’re guaranteed the amazing smell of freshly baked cookies wafting through your kitchen.
However, this time you’ll be able to order online to avoid missing out. Available to pre-order from 9am on April 12, each pie is $25, but you’ll score yourself some discounts if you order yours alongside a tub or two of Messina’s delicious gelato.
The only effort you’ll need to exert is making your way to your local Messina store to pick up your order. They’ll be available for collection between Friday, April 16 to Sunday, April 18.
