France Has Just Voted Kayserberg As Its Favourite Town

The entire country of France has come together to name its favourite city. Because rankings are important, you guys.

As part of the French television program,Village préféré des Français, people from around the country were asked to vote for their favourite town. The vote occurs annually, since the program started in 2012 and has seen winners like Ploumanac’hCordes sur Ciel and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie previously take the crown.

For 2017, the winner has just been announced as a small medieval town in the Alsace region named Kaysersberg. And it looks like it comes straight out of Beauty And The Beast.

Kaysersberg was voted the winner due to its walkable streets, beautiful medieval architecture and the friendly locals. It’s centred around a flowing river and a town square, with lots of picturesque houses towering over the cobbled streets. Quintessential country France.

In Kaysersberg, you can find the 15th century Ste-Croix Church, as well as the beautiful town hall that dates back to the 16th century. Just outside of the town, you can gaze upon the 13th century ruins of Chateau de Kayserberg. It’s a real piece of French history, that’s for sure.
