Start Salivating, Because US Cult Burger Chain ‘Five Guys’ Is Coming To Australia

Pay attention burger connoisseurs (particularly if you froth the American fast food variety) because we have good news. Popular US chain Five Guys is set to open its first restaurants in Australia.

A lot of fast food chains like this one have made their way over from America lately, like In-N-Out pop-ups and Carl’s Jr. And for all the other things you can say about the country, hot damn they do greasy but delicious comfort like nobody’s business (but they suck at Fairy Bread).

If you’re not familiar, Five Guys is known for keeping it simple and doing two things very well: burgers and chips.

Unlike other fast food joints, they promise to never keep your ingredients frozen. In fact they’re well known for their in-store, hand-cut fries. They’ve also won a bunch of USA awards for their burgers, which offer 15 different toppings: from grilled mushrooms to green peppers and pickles. All great news for your tastebuds.

In Australia, they’ve signed an agreement with Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group, announcing that their first venue will be in Sydney, with intentions to expand.

“Our commitment is to open approx. 20 stores nationwide in the right locations and with the right staff,” said Chief Marketing Officer and Franchise Representative for Seagrass BHG, David Ovens.

“We are currently looking for the best sites in Sydney’s CBD and welcome inquiries from agents… We believe Australia will embrace Five Guys given the quality, value, and authenticity of the brand”.

Get ready to get your extreme burger on, Australia. This just might be the best thing to happen in 2020.
