Event Cinemas Will Now Let You Privately Hire A Whole Theatre And It’s Not Even Expensive

Loud talkers, packet crinklers, big hair lovers, armrest stealers – there is a plentitude of irritating humans you deal with when heading to the movies. It’s not a stretch to say that you’ve probably fantasised about having a theatre exclusively for you and your own mates, devoid of the aforementioned plebs.

I guess all we needed was a pandemic to see our private cinema dreams manifest. For the rest of August, Event Cinemas are letting you and up to 19 friends book out an entire cinema for yourselves, where not only do you get to choose the flick, but you’ll nom on unlimited medium popcorn and drinks — brought to you by your very own event host.

It won’t cost a fortune, either. The private screening experience is $500 for up to 20 people, making the individual price similar to a cafe brekkie at $25pp. Of course, you can make the screening as intimate as you like, it’ll just depend on your budget.

The promotion is available at Event Cinemas locations nationally until Monday, August 31, however reservations are required by Friday, August 14.

Each private booking package includes:

  • A private cinema in the Event multiplex of your choice, in one of the chain’s original cinemas (sorry, that means no VMax, Gold Class, 4DX or Event’s Boutique cinemas).
  • Screening a movie of your choice, at the time and date of your choice (subject to availability). If you need some helping choosing check this guide out.
  • Unlimited medium-sized salted popcorn and medium-sized soft drinks.
  • Your very own host.

Films include a range of new releases, cult classics, and family favourites. This means everything from Pretty Woman, The Matrix, Fight Club, 10 Things I Hate About You, Joker, Bohemian Rhapsody and Frozen, to new releases like Judd Apatow’s latest comedy The King of Staten Island, Marvel superhero horror The New Mutants and zombie thriller Peninsula.
