What To Do In Melbourne For The Best-Ever Easter Long Weekend
Public holiday season is here! How lucky are we to get four consecutive days off? Maybe you have travel plans for this period – after all, if you thought ahead and booked three days of leave next week, you’ll be treated to 10 days off. If you don’t, all is not lost! You can still make the most of your Easter long weekend in Melbourne. Here are some of our best suggestions.
What to do in Melbourne this Easter long weekend
Melbourne International Comedy Festival

This may be the best time of the year for comedy in Australia, with hundreds and hundreds of performances from incredible comedians from Australia and the world. Seriously, you’re spoilt for choice, so you’ll definitely find at least several things you’re keen to see this weekend.
There are pages and pages of event listings for you to choose from – even on Good Friday (nothing else is open, so you have no excuse!). Jump onto the Melbourne International Comedy Festival website, book something, and laugh yourself silly this weekend.
Espresso Martini Festival
The espresso martini may be Australia’s favourite drink (after a crisp lemon, lime and bitters of course). Thus why there’s an entire festival dedicated to the thing. Do note thought that this event celebrates a whole host of delicious cocktails beyond the coffee creation.
Head to Supersmall Club in the CBD for two hours of bottomless cocktails or bottomless beers. Tickets are $40 (no shared tickets, no sculling, no drunken behaviour pls) and can be booked online. Also have a go at trivia at this event!
Where: Supersmall City Club, 202 King Street, Melbourne
Neon Playground at Melbourne Zoo
Melbourne Zoo is lighting up in fabulous colours to host Neon Playground, and after-dark event with light projections, performances, laser art and a neon maze. It’s all to support research and conservation of the endangered native corroboree frog. There will also be food and drinks on offer. Tickets are $39 from the Melbourne Zoo website.
Where: Elliott Ave, Parkville
Go for a boozy brunch
We know you have that list of cafes you’re dying to get to tucked away, so now’s the time to pull it out and book that long boozy brunch. With double the weekend, you have double the recovery time, so there’s no excuse to not live it up.
See Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Everyone in Melbourne knows about this – they’re making the biggest deal about it right? Well, we report to you that the deal is worth it. You have to see this show.
It’s long, yes, that’s why the long weekend is the best time to see it. There are still tix left for the two-in-one-day bookings this weekend (and no online queue!) so accio tickets!
Where: Princess Theatre, 163 Spring St, Melbourne
Take a day trip
Okay, maybe you want to use this weekend to chill in your personal space, away from all the people. Very Melbourne of you, and we don’t blame you!
