Phuket Is Home To One Of The World’s Most Perfect Waterfalls

Bang Pae Waterfall

Thailand is known for its beaches; they pride themselves on having some of the best island locations in the world – and we totally agree. But if the crowds are putting you off, we may have a solution – how about a swimming hole?

Bang Pae Waterfall is located about a 40 minute drive north of Phuket’s city centre and is a perfect alternative to the beach. You’ll find the waterfall right in the heart of the Khao Pra Taew National Park – to get there you’ll need to hike up a pretty steep and rocky path, but once you spy the inviting stream of water, it’ll all be worth it.

The waterfall is a popular destination for locals who bring picnics, swim or just enjoy a bit of shade in the verdant jungle. It’s TH฿200 (about AU$8) to visit, but it’s totally worth it.

If you want a little more nature, you can walk the track between the Bang Pae Waterfall and the Ton Sai Waterfall to the west. There’s a set of hills in the middle, and it’ll take you about two hours to navigate them, but the walk is billed as one of the best in Phuket. There are tales of wild gibbons hanging out in the area so be on the lookout.
