Here’s How The Earth Looks From Space

Since the beginning of consciousness, humankind has maintained a healthy fascination with what’s above our heads. For centuries, civilisations have associated the stars, constellations and the night sky with heavens, gods and goddesses. But we’ve been so busy looking up that we seem to have forgotten what’s around us. From the sky looking down, earth too looks like a version of heaven. Astronaut Tim Peake, on a six-month mission to the International Space Station with the European Space Agency, posted all of the following images to his Flickr account in 2016. The images show the earth – its natural phenomena and manmade structures – in all of its glory. (All images: Tim Peake/ESA/NASA)
