‘Cheez TV’s Ryan & Jade Are Hosting A ’90s Party In Wollongong

Where could we find you in the mornings before school between 1995 and 2004? If you’re anything like us, then the answer is probably in front of the telly watching Cheez TV and demolishing some Pop-Tarts. The show was so ’90s that it was even the first TV program in Australia to have its own internet address.

Now the two most loose units of your childhood, Cheez TV hosts Ryan and Jade, will be (fittingly) hosting a ’90s party – complete with trivia, tunes and a pinball tournament – as part of the inaugural Wollongong Fringe Festival. Bring your sense of nostalgia to Rad Bar on Thursday September 29; tickets are here.

While you’re in town, you should check out some of the other things on the Fringe’s stacked program, which is anchored around the Yours and Owls music festival, running over two days (October 1 and 2) and featuring Hermitude, Bleached, DMA’s, Thelma Plum, Stonefield, Chastity Belt, Ladyhawke, The Living End and heaps more.

The accompanying Fringe program extends the boundaries of the party to include cinema, music, arts, theatre and food events in the week leading up to the festival, from September 23 to October 2.

Moon Beach
Moon Beach is an art installation in a planetarium.

There’s a night of science with Dr Karl, a bush tucker tour and Indigenous cooking demonstration, an opening night party, an art installation in a planetarium, an outdoor cinema screening rad movies, a talk with film buff David Stratton, and it wouldn’t be NSW if there wasn’t a live stream of the NRL Grand Final. All this and more, set by the beautiful beaches of the ‘Gong. It will probably even be warm enough to swim then. Bliss.
