Check Out These ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 5 Filming Locations

If, like us, your heartbeats are speeding up and your hands are getting sweaty over Game of Thrones returning to your television screens/laptops/handheld devices, then come with us on a journey through five of the rumoured filming locations in the upcoming fifth season of the ever-popular series. Just remember to pack your jacket. After all, winter is coming.

#1 Binevenagh, Northern Ireland

The dramatic Binevenagh is a mountain straddling two counties in Northern Ireland. The plateau and steep cliffs extend for almost ten kilometres across the peninsula of Magilligan and dominate the skyline over a number of nearby villages.

#2 The Roman bridge of Córdoba, Southern Spain

This historic bridge is pretty ancient – it was built by the Romans in the early first century BC, perhaps replacing a previous one in wood. It’s undergone a large number of reconstructions, in particular during the 10th century, and now only the 14th and 15th arches (counting from the Puerta del Puente on the end) are original. There are 16 arcades in the bridge.

#3 The Alcázar of Seville, Southern Spain

The Alcázar of Seville is a Moorish fort that was transformed into a royal palace, renowned for being one of the most beautiful in Spain. It’s the oldest royal palace still in use, with the upper levels reserved for the royal family. Oh, and for any Games of Thrones filming requests, we assume. It’s not the first time that cameras have shared the space with royals – it also served as a filming location for Lawrence of Arabia in 1962.

#4 The University of Osuna, Southern Spain

The University of Osuna could actually be haunted. Hopefully not with the ghost of Joffrey. That guy was terrible. After the building was initially authorised by the Pope himself in 1548, the university had everything it needed right there on site – a system of scholarships, a residential hall for its students, and even its own burial ground.

#5 Stradun, Dubrovnik, Croatia

This limestone paved street runs smack-bang through the middle of Dubrovnik’ historic Old Town, which is surrounded by the Walls of Dubrovnik. Apparently a bunch of shops along this historic street proudly display their city’s connection to Game of Thrones – they even sell merch. Y’know, to honour IRL history.
