Channing Tatum Is Bringing His Magic Mike Live Show To Australia

Strap on your chaps and work on your moves because Magic Mike Live is coming to Australia.

Based on the popular films Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL and brought to Australia by Hollywood star Channing Tatum himself, Magic Mike Live takes the strip routines and dance of the movies and puts it on a stage for all to see in person.

The show has already had hit seasons in Las Vegas, London and Berlin, and Melbourne will be the next city to welcome the big muscles of the Magic Mike Live dancers, opening at Birrarung Marr on Tuesday May 26, 2020. Other Australian cities with follow with seasons of their own, starting with Sydney in November 2020, and Brisbane and Perth after that.

The live iteration of Magic Mike has a 360-degree set up, meaning the 15 male dancers will “perform in front of, behind, above and all around the audience.” The performers will do their thing all around the venue, across both levels of seating, so everyone can get a close-up view. It’ll get your blood pumping, that’s for sure.

In Melbourne, the show will be performed in a specially built, two-storey tent called The Arcadia in Birrarung Marr, which can hold up to 600 audience members.

“We’ve created a whole different genre,” said Channing Tatum, who starred in the films and is director of Magic Mike Live (but doesn’t perform in the show). “We joke in the second movie like we’re going to take it global and now it’s actually happening.”

Magic Mike Live is the latest show to announce a run in Australia, following Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Hamilton and Moulin Rouge! Also in theatre news, Princess Diana is getting the musical treatment on Broadway.

You can book tickets to Magic Mike Live now at Ticketmaster. And remember, touching is against the law.
