There’s A ‘Kath & Kim’ Inspired Chardonnay Festival Hitting Sydney For All You Hornbags

Buttered: Aussie Chard Fest Is A Kath & Kim Inspired Chardonnay Festival

“Alright: chardonnay, chardonnay, you pack of chunts!” Kim Craig coined this Australian proverb in 2003, and we’re still living by it now. So much so, that there’s an entire festival dedicated to chardonnay coming to Sydney inspired by Kath & Kim.

No one loves chardonnay as much as the foxy ladies of Fountain Gate, so it’s only right that Buttered: Aussie Chard Fest is celebrating those foxy morons as much as it’s celebrating their fave drink.

To celebrate the best of Australia’s refined new-world style of chardonnays, Handpicked Wines is opening its cellar door in Chippendale on Tuesday, October 22. There’ll be more than 20 different wines to taste and pair with nostalgic Aussie snacks. We’re talking a sausage sizzle from Vic’s Meats, cheese (if there’s no statue of little baby cheeses, we riot) and an Iced Vovo or two.

Some of the best in the chardonnay biz will be there to talk you through the selection, led by Peter Dillon, the director of winemaking at Handpicked Wines. He’ll be joined by legendary producers from Giant Steps, Oakridge, Savaterre and Tyrell’s.

There’ll be a DJ spinning a retro playlist that’s perfect listening for when you’re #WaitingForTelstra and for a lazy evening of wine tastings.

But no Kath & Kim party would be complete without fashion fit for a hornbag. Keep the retro-Oz vibes rolling by coming in your best fluoro windbreaker, footy shorts, man-bag and gumnut-baby accessories. The best-dressed hornbags will win some serious prizes, like a private wine tasting for four.

Tickets to Buttered: Aussie Chard Fest are on sale now for $35.
