Brisbane Is Getting A Brand New Outdoor Cinema

Sunset Cinema Brisbane

Our neighbours up north are recipients of some pretty stellar weather conditions, what with that constant sunshine and balmy temperatures. Conditions perfect for, say, an outdoor cinema.

As it happens, a brand new open-air cinema is headed for Brisbane’s beautiful Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens in March, because summer is virtually endless above the NSW-QLD border.

The gardens will play host to Sunset Cinema, which is bringing a two-week line-up of Oscars frontrunners like Lady Bird, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and I, Tonya, to town from March 15 to April 7.

All that entertainment is gonna make you hungry, so pack a picnic (no BYO) to enjoy while you take in a movie or, if you’d prefer someone else did all the work, there’s an on-site snack bar serving all the regular movie treats and tipples.

Tickets start at $17 for adults and go on sale at 10am on Wednesday, January 24. We’d suggest seriously considering renting an adult beanbag for an extra $9 – you won’t regret it.
