Hop Aboard This Beer Train In The US For A Day-Long Boozy Adventure

Trains aren’t exactly anyone’s preferred mode of transport, but chuck in some incredible scenic views and fully stock the carriages with craft beers and you’ve almost guaranteed our attendance.

This is what’s going down aboard the Durango Brew Train at Colorado’s Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.

The 1920s steam locomotive chugs through the Colorado mountains and along the scenic Animas River just a couple of times every year, allowing visitors to soak in the sublime surrounds of Centennial State while being waited on by brewers, all of whom will ensure you’re always well-hydrated.

“The breweries are very liberal with their pours, too,” Christian Robbins, marketing director for the train line, told Thrillist, just in case you didn’t believe us. But let it be known, it’s not just about beer.

“On your way [to Cascade Canyon in the San Juan National Forest] you see gorgeous views,” says Robbins. “The highline is one of the peak moments because it’s jaw-dropping. You could just look out the train, and there’s this huge 500-foot cliff down to the river you’re looking over.”

There’s also a mid-way stop where lunch is catered, there’s live music and – of course – more beer.
