The Big Pineapple Is Getting A Zipline, Water Park And Craft Brewery

Australia sure does have a lot of Big Things, and the Big Pineapple on the Sunshine Coast is set to become even bigger with a massive redevelopment plan that will turn this very large fruit into a theme park.

Fact: everybody loves stopping at Queensland’s Big Pineapple and snapping a pic with the world’s only 16-metre-high fibreglass pineapple. I mean, why not? But pretty soon, there’ll be a whole lot more to do during a stopover here. A $150 million redevelopment is adding a zipline, adventure course, water park, craft brewery and glamping site – sounds more like the Big Fineapple, amirite? (I am right.)

The first stage of the redevelopment has already rolled out, adding a TreeTop Challenge high rope and zipline course to the site. TreeTop Challenge parks are everywhere in Queensland, but the one at the Big Pineapple is their highest course yet. A big adventure for a big piece of fruit.

There’s something crazy like 100-plus activities in the course, from rope challenges to flying foxes and 120-metre-long zipline through the rainforest. It’ll take you about half a day to get through everything, which is a lot of tree-based fun.

When the water park is completed soon, it’ll turn the Big Pineapple into an adventure precinct where a family can spend an entire day. A luxe glamping site is also coming, so you can camp out after all your fun and even get a drink at the upcoming craft brewery and distillery.

There’s no due date for the rest of these attractions yet but, in the meantime, all of the existing attractions like the Wildlife HQ zoo are open (and will stay open after the redevelopment is complete) so there’s still plenty reason to stop at the Big Pineapple if you’re passing by.
