8 Unforgettable NSW Trips For Your Easter Long Weekend

I’m honestly not sure how this came up so quickly, but the Easter long weekend is just around the corner.  Whether you’re staying put or escaping the crowds, New South Wales has plenty of options for you. We’ve picked our top seven, no matter what mood you’re in.

1. Manly

Sure, it’s part of Sydney, but it feels a world away while still being an easy ferry into the city. Lean into the chill, beachy vibes with a waterfront stay at The Sebel.

Go for a stroll along the beach, heck take the stunning coastal walk all the way to Bondi if you’re keen. Refuel with a fancy croissant from Rollers Bakehouse, or maybe high tea from picturesque Q Station. Then wander the weekend markets and grab a drink at The Glasshouse.

2. Orange

I’m not sure exactly when Orange became such a good food and wine mecca, but trust me, it happened and it’s delightful.

If you’re taking the drive from Sydney to Orange, here’s the perfect long weekend itinerary for you. Yes, it includes all the stops you should make along the way.

If you just want to take a more direct route (but trust me, still book a stay at Byng Street Boutique Hotel), then this guide from a local is the ticket.

3. Central Coast

From the cute stores and ‘Gram worth shot at Long Jetty, to an award-winning distillery (with an amazing cafe next door, I might add), to almost endless beautiful beaches — the Central Coast really has everything you could want for a long weekend.

As an ex-local who used to hate it, I’ve got this guide for you with all the reasons it’s such a good vacay destination now. There’s even a bunch of pet-friendly hotels so you can bring your pooch.

4. The Murray River

Get a totally different view, hire a houseboat and sail your way down the might Murray River. Don’t worry, you won’t need any special licenses, anyone can do it. Here’s a guide to help even newbies have a great time.

Boats range from super basic two-berth affairs to ones so luxe they’re basically floating hotels (some even have spas).

5. Bilpin

Besides it being the home place of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert — and the fact we all need to have The Palace Hotel on our bucket list — the outback beauty surrounding BBroken Hill is so underrated.

Take a day trip out to Perry Sandhills (seriously, how is this place still a secret?), wait for sunset to hit the outdoor sculptures at Living Desert State Park, or join a rock art tour to learn more about the rich cultural history of the area.

7. Wollongong

Or honestly, any of the adorable small coastal towns in the Illawarra region. The beauty here is next level and the vibes are relaxed.

The drive itself is worth the trip, especially if you make a stop at the Insta-famous Sea Cliff Bridge. If you love a little nature, just south of Wollongong is Budderoo National Park with picturesque walks for any level of fitness and plenty of natural swimming holes. Or, you know, just hang at the beach.
