A Museum In Belfast Is Recapping ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 Through Tapestry
In much the same way New Zealand is to Lord of the Rings, Northern Ireland is part of the fabric of Game of Thrones. And, with their new campaign, we mean that quite literally.
A large majority of Game of Thrones has been filmed in the rugged mountain ranges and dense forests of Northern Ireland. As such, Belfast’s Ulster Museum is paying tribute to the show by weaving a giant tapestry of all seven seasons, adding to it each week that a new episode airs.
Very appropriate for the show’s medieval roots.
Visitors to the museum can follow the story of seasons one through to six as they walk all 77 metres of the Bayeux-style artwork. Through the impressively detailed stitching, they’ll be caught up on the Red Wedding, White Walkers, dragons and yep, the deaths that have featured in the plot thus far. Pretty much everything you’ve seen on screen is stitched in, including special guest stars and recurring characters.
Of course, the question on all tapestry fan’s lips is whether or not Ed Sheeran will be woven into this week’s tapestry. With the first episode “recap” due to make its debut the 24th of July, we’ll have to wait to find out.
