Australians Won’t Need A Visa To Go To Brazil For The Olympics
Great news for Australians – the Brazilian government has just nixed their compulsory tourist visas in the lead up to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this August.
From June 1 to September 18, all Australian citizens, as well as tourists from Canada, Japan and the US, will be able to visit Brazil without a visa for the duration of the Olympics. The government are waiving the visa fees (which are currently $63AUD for Australian passport holders) to encourage more travel to the country during this busy time. This visa-free program also foregoes the hassle of having to send your passport to the consulate to get it sorted too, so big ups to Brazil for making that a little easier.

And while we try to fathom that it’s been a whole four years since the 2012 London Olympics, we’re pretty excited for this next round. Even if you’re not a sports fan, it’s impossible to deny the swell of national pride that takes over when Australia wins a gold medal, even if it’s for the handball or whatever. You’ve gotta experience the Olympics in person once in your life – and what better place than Rio?
