Where better to celebrate Pride than in one of the most socially progressive countries in the world? Auckland Pride is New Zealand’s biggest and best celebration of the country’s unique mix of cultures, sexualities and gender identities.
While there’s just under a week of festivities left, the party is far from over. Here are just some of the amazing ways to send off Auckland Pride for another year.
#1 Caluzzi Drag Queen Bingo
Celebrate being part of the LGBTIQ+ fam than with a good old fashioned match of drag queen bingo!
If you’re looking for a fun fabulous and free night out, get to the Caluzzi Bar and Cabaret and support some local queens as they get their glam on for Auckland Pride. Hosted by local legend Kita Mean, cash prizes will be up for grabs (like you needed the extra motivation).

#2 Disco Art House
Reminiscent of the “club kids” of New York City’s legendary scene, Disco Bloodbath emerged onto the Auckland drag scene as a young and fiery LGBTQI+ arts and performance collective. The Disco Art House exhibition gives punters the opportunity to see the art, photography and costuming they’ve become famous for showcased in one place.

#3 Human Rights Issues For Gender and Sexual Minorities
Surrounded by rainbow flags and glitter bombs, it can be easy to forget the historic importance of events like Pride. With that in mind, the Humans Rights Commission is hosting a series of open-forum consultations across NZ for people with diverse or minority sexual orientations, gender identities, and sex characteristics.
They want to hear from you, and your experience with dealing with issues such as healthcare, employment, education, housing and whatever else may be influencing your day-to-day life. It’s set to be an evening of intense and productive discussion.

#4 Auckland Pride Parade
What’s Pride without a fabulous, glitter-filled parade? Get to Ponsonby Road on Saturday night for the largest and loudest carnival of equality and diversity in New Zealand.
The 2018 Auckland Pride Parade is marching for peace, love and unity. There are more than 50 moving entries and you better believe it’s going to be a night to remember.

#5 PROUD 2018
After you’re finished at the parade, get yourself to PROUD, Auckland Pride’s official closing celebration and New Zealand’s biggest LGBTQI+ party!
It’ll feature famous international DJ and gay icon DJ Dan Slater, NYC rapper DJ Le1f, and London-based neo-burlesque royalty Empress Stah, as well as a killer line-up of local acts and DJs.
For the first time, PROUD is taking over all levels at the state-of-the-art Q Theatre — including the outdoor courtyard and car park. It’s set to be a big one.
Tickets are $60 and can be bought online or at the door.
