7 Little Things That Are A Godsend If You’re An Anxious Traveller

Distraction is key to easing anxiety. Whether that’s through striking up conversation with your seat neighbour, watching a new TV series or box set, latest movie or simply by sleeping, busying yourself can help you to get out of your restless mind and into the present.

#4 Zen Out

It’s known that deep breaths and focusing on the here-and-now can help to ease heart-racing anxiety. And while you can of course close your eyes and attempt to do both on your own, Qantas recently-introduced a Guided Meditation Series, which makes the process a whole lot easier. The 10-minute guided meditation video features aerial footage of some of Australia’s most lovely landscapes, including desert, bushlands, coasts and forests, and it’ll no doubt leave you much calmer than when you started.

#5 Look For The Helpers

Fear of flying is more common than you’d think, and, given flight attendants see thousands of passengers every year, they are trained to support and assist customers throughout the journey. As a result, they’ll do as much as they can to ensure you feel comfortable. Whether you sense a bout of anxiety coming on when checking in or mid-way through your flight, know that you can always let them know and see if there’s anything they might be able to do to make your flight more comfortable.

#6 Get The Facts 

Challenging negative thoughts can be an extremely effective way to combat them – as is booking your flights with an airline that boasts an impressive safety record, like Qantas.
