Dogs, Cats And Ducks: Meet The World’s Cutest Hotel Employees
Your last hotel stay was OK, but I know what you’re thinking — not enough dogs, right?
Fortunately, chucking animals on your payroll is officially a trend, and these are some of the very best boys and girls to grace the doors and floors of hotels all over the world.
Mr Walker
Mr Walker is a golden labrador retriever, Guide Dogs of Australia ambassador and all-’round Very Good Boy. He works in the client services team at Melbourne’s Park Hyatt, where his affectionate, social nature makes him the perfect fit for his role.
When Mr. Walker isn’t greeting guests or getting taken on walks through the nearby Fitzroy Gardens, he spends his afternoons zenning out with a spot of yoga…or napping.

Parker The Pug
Parker the rescue pug is a very sweet girl who “works” at Mr Walker’s sister hotel, Park Hyatt Chicago.
She’s a five-year-old special needs pug who was adopted by the hotel last year and, naturally, she’s become a social media star.
Parker spends her days getting belly rubs from guests or working on her tan in the garden. Our hearts have never been so full.
Bonnie And Tara
You’ll find these two li’l cutie pie pups at The Mandarin Oriental in Boston. The hotel says Bonnie and Tara provide a warm welcome to guests, thanks to their fun personalities and gentle nature.
Clients and guests are encouraged to take the two on walks, if they’re up for it (who wouldn’t be?).
Peabody Hotel Ducks
From doggos to duckies, these friendly little quackers hang out in the fountain at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. Over the years, they’ve become an institution in their own right.
Although they don’t have individual names, the hotel’s very first team of ducks were named Peabody, Gayoso and Chisca after the three hotels owned by the Memphis Hotel Compant back in 1933. They aren’t the first to call the fountain home, either — turtles and baby alligators both graced the hotel fountain back in the 1920s.
They’re cared for by a Duck Master (our new dream job). When they clock off for the day, they live in the Royal Duck Palace on the hotel’s rooftop. The structure is made of marble and glass, boasting its very own fountain with a bronze duck spitting water. It cost more than $200,000 to build.
Skabenga
Skabenga (which translates to “hooligan”) was a stray cat who used to visit to Oyster Box Hotel in South Africa for scraps. Hotel staff brought her in and she’s now lived with them for more than 10 years.
She’s so comfortable she even has her very own couch in the lobby for naps.
Although she sometimes looks a bit cranky, she’s a sweet girl who loves belly rubs.
Carly The Black Lab
Carly works at Boston’s Fairmont Copely Hotel. She spends her days greeting guests, riding in the hotel’s bell carts and participating in events.
Good girl, Carly.
Lord Monticello
Lord Monticello, the Executive Canine Officer (ECO) at the luxe Jefferson Hotel in Washington, D.C., is a very cute rescue beagle.
While he’s on the books, fellow animal guests are more than welcome at the hotel, with doggy beds, bowls and treats all available for hire.
He’s a very fancy boy who loves walks and pats. If that’s not enough reason to book a trip, I don’t know what is.
