A Beatles Pop-Up Store Is Coming To Liverpool

Liverpool has a lot to thank for The Beatles for. In fact, the northern UK city probably has the Fab Four to thank for giving it the boost needed to become the tourist hotspot it is today. While the city is already home to more Beatles memorabilia and tributes than you can poke a yellow submarine at, Liverpool is now adding even more to its Beatlemania obsession, with a pop-up Beatles store opening up on May 25.

The pop-up store is being launched to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ seminal Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and will remain open until June 11.

The store will open at 1 Mathew St, which is particularly notable given how close it is to 10 Mathew St, AKA the Cavern Club. Synonymous with Beatles history, the Cavern Club acted as an early stomping ground for the group, who were discovered there by their first ever manager, Brian Epstein. The club still hosts live music every single day.

The Beatles may have been the first to do rock ‘n’ roll like they did, but they’re far from the first to open a pop-up: from Kanye West to Rihanna, Jamie xx to Frank Ocean, Daft Punk to The Strokes, it’s an increasingly common trend, and an exciting one at that; music fans are given the chance to grab some exclusive gear, and connect with other fans in real time.

At the time of writing, there’s little information about what will actually be on offer at the store, though “exclusive products”, including a special anniversary edition of the album will be available to lucky fans. More details are expected ahead of the grand opening.
