9 Romantic Places To Propose That Aren’t Paris

Paris has long been considered the ultimate destination for romance and love. One of the “it” places to propose, even a walk along the beautiful River Seine is enough to turn you all heart-eyes emoji.

But just because a place is romantic, doesn’t mean it’s the most special place for you and your significant other. And while Paris will always be the City of Love, there’s probably another city out there that will mean much more to you and your partner if you were to ever thinking about popping that question.

Recently Contiki asked more than 200 of their trip managers from around the world to advise on the best spots to propose outside of Paris. Here’s what they suggest as the best places to propose around the world.

The charming white buildings capped with iconic blue, an endless ocean bleeding into a matching sky and a nice glass of sparkles in your hand. Santorini will fill you with so much wonder it’d be remiss of you not to propose there and then.

Amalfi Coast, Italy

The quaint fishing town of Praiano is the most romantic spot on the Amalfi Coast, with regular pink sunsets that fall over the wide ocean. The Contiki crew reckon the best place to pop the question here is Cala della Gavitella, a quiet, picturesque beach with panoramic views from Positano to Capri and Li Galli islands. Swoon! It’s one of the world’s most beautiful places, which makes it one of the most perfect places to propose.

Machu Picchu, Peru

Let’s face it, once you and your partner have spent the last few days sweating and trekking your way through the Inca Trail and up to Machu Picchu, there’s probably nothing you can’t achieve as a team.

For adventurous couples, there’s nothing better than making that summit to the top even more memorable than getting down on one knee. Ticking off a physical and emotional milestone in one day? Now, that’s an impressive story.

Seville, Spain

Just like Paris, Seville has its fair share of extravagant architecture, picturesque parks and charming narrow streets that create an irresistibly romantic atmosphere. However, the thing that makes Seville stand out as a perfect destination for couples is the fun and passion. The home of flamenco dancing, paella and sangria, Seville is the romantic choice for couples who want to party the night away.

Nice, France

Paris’ southern counterpart, Nice has all of the cheese, wine and joie de vivre you want out of a French getaway but with the French Riviera on show to boot. Relaxed and charming with a number of surrounding locations to explore, Nice is the perfect backdrop to surprise your partner with flair.

Queenstown, New Zealand

Queenstown

Queenstown is, without a doubt, the ultimate destination for adrenaline junkies and outdoorsy couples. You’ll be spoiled for choice with the multitude of adventure activities like bungee jumping, sky diving, skiing and parasailing. You could even pop the question mid-air!

Singapore is a city full of amazing food and culture, so you’re spoilt for choice when deciding where to ask the big question. For example, you could pop the question 165m off the ground on the Singapore Flyer or enjoy a romantic four-course sky dining experience with a backdrop of 360-degree views of the Marina Bay skyline.
