4 Of The Best Places To Eat In Bondi
Sydneysiders are pretty spoilt for choice when it comes to places to eat and drink. If you’re venturing to the eastern suburbs, namely Bondi, your choices get even harder. How can you find that one great needle in a haystack when there’s delicious restaurants popping up on every corner?

#1 Bondi Icebergs Club
Address: 1 Notts Avenue, Bondi Beach
It would be practically criminal to come to Sydney and not experience Bondi Icebergs Club, a winter swimming club whose clubhouse overlooks ocean pools and the beach beyond. This place draws people in droves – both locals and tourists – to dine, drink and take in the postcard perfect views (don’t forget your camera).
Best of all, the clubhouse bistro prices are pretty reasonable, which is surprising given the location. Tuck into a pot of black mussels cooked in tomato, garlic, chilli and white wine. Or go for something classic like beer-battered flathead with salad and fries. There’s a kids’ menu, too, so this place is great for all the family.
#2 Da Orazio Pizza & Porchetta
Address: Shop LG09 The Hub, 75–79 Hall Street, Bondi
Everything at Da Orazio screams style, from the professionally uniformed staff to the minimalist interior (all stark white, wood and rendered concrete) and carefully curated music. But there’s also substance behind all that attention to aesthetics, and the food is definitely the star of the show.
As its name suggests, pizza – naturally risen for 48 hours and cooked in a wood-fired oven – is one of the leading ladies. The other scene-stealer is pork, either done on the rotisserie or slow roasted. It’s only available until sold out though, so get in before the show’s over.
#3 SHUK
Address: 2 Mitchell Street, North Bondi
SHUK got a fair bit of attention in 2015 when Jamie Oliver stopped by, but the locals knew how phenomenal it was years before that. SHUK is a café, bakery and deli; its own little marketplace situated in what was an old milk bar.
It’s bustling around the clock, but if you only have time for one visit, drop in of a morning when the café is at its best. It’s drenched in sunlight during the day and the glossy white walls and timber tables are clean and bright.
SHUK serves breakfast until 12.30pm and the menu is packed with traditional eats with an Israeli twist. Try the Teff pancake with ricotta, sweet dukkah, maple and bacon, or the Sabich bowl with tahini, smoked eggplant, and slow-cooked egg; both are sublime. Dinner on a Friday or Saturday night is also recommended – you can’t go past the Tasmanian lamb backstrap.
#4 The Eastern Hotel
Address: 500 Oxford Street, Bondi Junction
Epic is the only way to describe this multi-level building, which houses four different venues for four different experiences. GoodTime Burgers is on the ground floor and is the place for classic pub grub with a side of sports. On level one you’ll find Bondi Harvest, which focuses on healthy dining using local produce. El Topo Basement is, confusingly, on the third level; this nightclub isn’t for the faint-hearted. At the top of the tower, El Topo Mexican is hands-down the best of the lot, with food and a lively rooftop atmosphere to rival the real deal in Central America.
