5 Must-Dos At Melbourne’s Good Beer Week

Undoubtedly one of the best weeks on the Melbourne calendar, Good Beer Week is right around the corner. Now in its seventh year, the event kicks off on May 12 and runs until May 21. More than 300 events are expected to draw 75,000 attendees throughout Melbourne and across Victoria.

And the week is about more than just beer. The week is a celebration of food, brewing, cider and more. Also on offer are masterclasses, live music, fashion shows, and the coveted International Beer Awards.

With so many events to choose from, it’s hard to know where to begin. We’ve put together our top five picks for events at the 2017 Good Beer Week.

Best Of British Spectacular

May 13, The Local Taphouse, St Kilda East

There’s a lot to love about British brewing, and this event is celebrating all things UK. Treat yourself to a full English breakfast and an all-British musical playlist, while enjoying 30 of the UK’s best brews courtesy of Camden, Thornbridge, Siren, Fullers, Beavertown, Magic Rock and more.


Cobra Kai – Japanese Cuisine & Craft

Bendigo’s Dispensary will be hosting an incredible event for lovers of all things Japanese. The indulgent beer-matching lunch will feature an amazing assortment of Japanese delicacies and there’ll be craft beer from Baird & Kiuchi among others and Japanese whiskey. All this will be paired to a five-course meal of course.


Slice Of Beer Heaven

May 13-21, Lazerpig Pizza Parlour, Collingwood

Melbourne’s famous Lazerpig Pizza Parlour is taking part in Good Beer Week by offering a full range of specially designed pizzas, specifically made for the festival. Lazerpig promise that none of the pizzas have, or ever will be repeated in store, so get in quick. Alongside pizza, you’ll find beer, of course. There will be four Gage Roads beers on tap to wash the pizza down!

Craft & Cult 2017

May 20, Grumpy’s Green, Fitzroy

What could go better with beer than heavy metal? For the third year running, Grumpy’s Green is putting on a live gig with stoner sludge bands The Ruiner, DEAD and Weedy Gonzalez. On top of beers courtesy of Mountain Goat, Moon Dog and Two Birds, a special custom beer, made specially for the event is free to all ticket holders.


Girl Power

May 14, The Fox Hotel, Collingwood

While brewing is a typically male-dominated industry, there are plenty of women throughout the scene – and this is the perfect event for recognising their talent. Victoria’s best female brewers will be serving at The Fox Hotel, alongside plenty of local female musicians in tow to provide live music and sweet beats all night long.
