These Are The Top 19 Travel Destinations For Aussie Travellers In 2019
They say some people live to work and others work to live, but as a whole, we’d say Aussies work (and live) to travel! You’d be hard-pressed to find an Australian who hasn’t a) just got back from holidays b) has a trip booked or c) has a travel bucket list longer than their arm. But just in case you haven’t already decided where you’re going to explore next, this new study of top 2019 travel destinations released by Hostelworld might give you some ideas.
The hostel-booking platform has released their list of the top 19 travel destinations for Australian travellers for 2019, based on booking data for the previous 12 months. Unsurprisingly, Europe features prominently on the list, with Italy in the top spot, closely followed by Spain. England, France, The Netherlands, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Croatia, Greece and Portugal also made the cut.
Repping Asia was Japan at number 10, Vietnam at 13 and Thailand at 15. Interestingly, Australia came in third with a 16% increase in local bookings – proving that more of us are becoming keen to explore our own backyard. Down under also remains a firm favourite for global tourists, moving up from sixth to fifth place in the global top travel spot rankings. The individual city bookings showed that Melbourne, Byron Bay and Sydney were the fastest growing cities within Australia.
The study also looked at the top destinations for travellers from all over the world. The global ranking showed that some off-the-beaten track destinations are on the rise, including Turkey, Sri Lanka, India and Morocco. Check out the full list of travel destinations for travellers globally here.
