Joining the already announced Anohni on the Vivid lineup, Icelandic songstress Björk will debut Björk Digital a new virtual reality DJ project at Carriageworks. Divided into five unique spaces, Björk Digital will explore the weird and wonderful world of Björk, with the help from filmmakers and programmers from across the world.

Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera House will be unleashing a series of musical acts across the festival, including synth-pop masters New Order, indie folk legend Bon Iver and jazz artist Esperenza Spalding. There’ll also be a slew of acts hitting the stages of the Newtown Social Club, Cake Wines Cellar Door, Oxford Art Factory, Freda’s and The Basement.

For Vivid Ideas, the Game Changers Talk Series will see iconic director and producer Spike Jonze hitting the stage alongside House of Cards creator Beau Willimon and the driving force behind Orange Is The New Black and Weeds, Jenji Kohan for a series of talks highlighting the creative landscape of storytelling.

A main feature of the 2016 event will be the previously announced expansion into the Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens and Taronga Zoo, where an illuminated trail of animal light sculptures will be scattered across the zoo’s Harbour-adjacent grounds. The light sculptures featured are set to be some of the largest and most technologically-advanced lanterns to ever feature at the festival.

The Sydney Opera House will also be featuring a number of diverse works from Australian indigenous artists though a projection called Songlines. This work will illustrate the strong connections between indigenous astronomy and the natural word – “the celestial and terrestrial songlines that weave through time and distance, earth and sky.”
