Sweet Jesus: A Museum Of Ice Cream Is Opening In NYC Next Month

New York is known for its museums: MOMA, The Met, The Guggenheim and even the Museum of Sex. But now, they’ve one-upped themselves – New York City is finally getting a Museum of Ice Cream. Let me just repeat that: New York City is getting a museum dedicated to summer’s greatest joy. Hoo boy.

The fun-sized pop-up museum will be opening its doors to ice cream enthusiasts in New York’s Meatpacking District next month. The museum is set to be a “lick-able, likeable, shareable ice cream-centric experience” and a super sweet escape from NYC’s sweltering August heat.

The Museum of Ice Cream will be an interactive playground featuring a swimmable rainbow ‘sprinkle’ pool, edible balloons, an immersive chocolate room, and a “collaborative massive ice cream sundae” – which from the sound of it sounds pretty much like heaven on earth.

But wait – there’s more! There’s also an ice cream sandwich swing, an ice cream scooper seesaw and an interactive matchmaking/flavour-finding section that’s been sponsored by dating app Tinder. Because ice cream equals love, obv.

Following that you can indulge your tastebuds in a one-of-a-kind ice cream tasting and treat your eyes to visual designs from local NYC artists. The Scoop of the Week feature will showcase ice cream creations by some of the city’s coolest sweet shops including Black Tap, OddFellows Ice Cream Co. and a bunch more. Oh and lucky for you, tastings are included in the price of admission. Yesssssss.
