New Zealand Has An Awesome Treehouse Resort

You just can’t beat that Kiwi countryside. Home to hot springs, hobbits and unrelenting solitude, our neighbours across the ditch pack an accommodation punch – including these ridiculously cool treehouses.

Smack-bang in the middle of one of the most beautiful landscapes on earth, Hapuku Lodge is a five-star eco-retreat a few kilometres north of Kaikoura on New Zealand’s South Island.

Sitting 10m above the ground, the treehouses sits above the canopy of a native Manuka grove, beside the spectacular Kaikoura Mountains. The lodge complements the environment so well, it almost looks like Mother Nature built it herself.

Designed by a family of architects (as if that wasn’t obvious), Hapuku Lodge is comprised of five spacious lodge suites and five treehouses. Each room features locally hand-crafted furnishings and large windows that bring the tree canopy right into the bedroom. Each room has spectacular views of Kaikoura’s impressive mountains and the surf-washed Pacific coastline.

If you can tear yourself away from the views, the lodge also has in-house spa services, a gym, sauna, swimming pool, Wi-Fi and access to some of the region’s best walking trails.
