Melbourne is Getting A Brownie Cafe

Move over cupcakes, brownies have arrived. This week is the opening of Melbourne’s very first Brownie cafe – The Brownie Bar – and the menu is to die for.

The carefully crafted brownie menu includes an innovative selection of rich, gooey and moreish chocolate brownies, served in generous slices – over 20 different flavours in total.

Be sure to try the staples including Nutella, Choc Trio (milk, white and dark chocolate combo), Salted Caramel and Raspberry Swirl. There’s also a rotating schedule of extra special brownie flavours (no, not that type of “special”) including Cheesecake, Peanut Butter, Marz, and Cookies and Cream. And never fear, there’s a gluten free brownie too.

For the more adventurous, get around the brownie ice-cream sandwich or brownie sundae. But personally, our pick is the Brownie Shake – a whole bar of brownie blended up with ice cream and full cream milk.

A brownie is best served with coffee on the side. For the coffee lovers, The Brownie Bar has you covered, serving a specially developed blend of beans direct from the Silva Coffee roastery in the Yarra Valley.

The gourmet boutique is the creative brainchild of baking genius Julie Cooke, a Mum from Oakleigh who has been selling her homemade goods at local markets, bake sales and even the Royal Melbourne Show. When we asked her “Why brownies?” she said, “I have always loved baking and started selling baked goods at farmers markets near my home. After a few months, I noticed that everyone kept coming back for the brownies over everything else. So I decided to add in some different flavoured brownies and people loved them.”
