It’s Happening: Qantas Is Launching Non-Stop Flights From Australia To London
In a world first, Qantas has today announced the launch of non-stop flights between Australia and London.
The 14,498 kilometre service from Perth to London will be the first regular passenger service to directly link Australia with Europe when it begins in March 2018. The flight will take approximately 17 hours and will become the longest flight on the Qantas network, a title currently held by the Sydney to Dallas service (13,730km).
The route will be flown by the Qantas 787-9 Dreamliner, the airline’s fancy new flagship plane, which is touted as the cleaner, quieter and more comfortable future of flying.

Perth’s airport will be upgraded to accommodate for the flights, giving a boost to Western Australia tourism. The fit-out of the 787-9 is also enhanced for extra comfort, with improved air quality, lower cabin noise, more room in Economy and advanced technology to reduce turbulence.
It’s pretty remarkable to think that the Qantas ‘Kangaroo Route’ to London, which took four days and had nine stops when it launched back in 1947, will now be reduced to a 17 hour non-stop flight. Welcome to the future, hey.
