This feature is brought to you by Qantas, who are proud to play a part in bringing travellers together with the people they love from around Australia and across the globe.

In 2017, what does ‘equality’ mean to you?

This is what many will be reflecting on as the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras takes over our famous harbour city during February and March. Now in its 39th year, over 500,000 people will gather to celebrate this year’s theme of ‘equality’, using Sydney as the backdrop for what promises to be, yet again, one hell of a world-class party.

Whether it’s same-sex marriage, social equality for LGBTQI+ people, or a lack of discrimination on the basis of any difference, equality means different things for different folks, but Qantas wants to know what equality means to you.

As the proud airline partner of Mardi Gras, Qantas wants to start a conversation around what #Equalityis, with some pretty ace prizes for the most creative answers. One overall winner will win return flights to Sydney (with the opportunity to extend out their return flight), two nights of accommodation and VIP viewing access to the Mardi Gras Parade, held along Oxford St on Saturday March 4.

On top of this, hundreds of runners up will also get to join in the party from wherever in Australia they may be. 400 people will win two pairs of specially designed rainbow print Qantas Business pyjamas – one pair to keep and one to give to a loved one. These PJs are coveted for a reason; it’s like a cocoon of comfort in there. They’re then invited to join the fun of Mardi Gras at the Qantas virtual pyjama party – held on the same day as the parade – by sharing photos of themselves donned in the rainbow PJs with the #Equalityis hashtag.

To get involved, head to this site and upload a selfie answering what #Equalityis to you. The competition closes on February 22.
