How To Get Around

If you’re here for a while, get an AT card (NZ$5) and load some money on it so you don’t have to worry about change when you catch a bus. The easiest buses to navigate are the Link buses, which take circular routes through the city to various destinations.

The City Link (bright red) will take you up and down Queen Street to K Road (free if you have a card, only 50c if you don’t).

The Inner Link (bright green) will take you from the city to Ponsonby, Parnell, New Market, Grafton, Victoria Park, Sky City and back downtown (all for $2.50).

Most buses only run till 11pm, so if you’re out and you don’t like walking, you’re going to need to taxi. The cheapest dependable options are Discount Taxi (09-5291000) or Uber (you know Uber, right?). To get out of the city, you can get trains to some places, but you’re probably best off tiring a cheap car (Jucy.co.nz is the place to go).
