And The First Qantas 787-9 Dreamliner Route Is…

This story has been updated with new information on December 22, 2016.

Fresh off the back of Qantas’ announcement that their new 787-9 Dreamliner will be servicing the first ever non-stop flights from Australia to Europe in 2018, the airline has today announced the first route on their network that will be flown by the flagship aircraft.

Passengers flying from Melbourne to LA will be the very first to experience the Qantas 787-9 Dreamliner when the inaugural international service takes-off on December 15, 2017.*

Two hundred and thirty six passengers will be carried across the Pacific in a three-class configuration (Business, Premium Economy and Economy), complementing the existing service flown on the same route by the A380.

The Dreamliners have been designed for maximum passenger comfort, with larger windows, responsive cabin lighting, a system that counters turbulence, and lower C02 emissions compared to other aircrafts of its size. This means that you’re in for a smoother, quieter and cleaner journey. Bonus: there’s even more room in Economy too.

The 787-9 Dreamliner service from Melbourne to LA will operate six days a week, giving customers the convenience of a morning or afternoon departure from Melbourne on both days, and fares will be on sale from Christmas Day 2016.
